Sonic Blume has recently released the music video for ‘Rocky & I’, the opening track of their November album titled ‘All Your Favorite Songs’. The Alt-Rock album was released to much acclaim, with the track being a concrete opener that perfectly sets the tone of the entire project. “[Rocky & I] is about the feelings of teenage love and lust, salad days, and naivety. For me, it’s also about ephemeral euphoria, and for a period of time just completely blocking out and forgetting about everything else in the world.” shares Max Connery, lead vocalist for Sonic Blume. Max’s sentiment is brought to life by the punchy drums, addictive guitars and a unique voice you can’t find anywhere else.

The music video for ‘Rocky & I’ was shot on Long Beach Island in New Jersey, featuring iconic landmarks such as the Barnegat Lighthouse and the promenade. “When recording the album, we picked a movie to go along with each song,” shares Connery. While recording the song, we would play the movie on a loop in the studio. If we were feeling stuck, we would take five minutes and watch a little bit of the movie. For ‘Rocky & I,’ the film we chose was Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. The movie ultimately helped guide our production choices and inspired us to be more playful and whimsical.”

Comprised of Lead Singer, Guitarist and Synthesizer Player Max Connery, Noah Sullivan – a Guitarist and Synthesizer Player – and Bassist James Waltsak, Sonic Blume was formed in 2016. In late 2017, the band released their self-titled EP, which won them the Asbury Music Award for Best New Band. Their follow-up EP, Beach Karma, released in 2019, earned rave reviews and landed Sonic Blume on NJ.com’s “Top NJ Bands to Hear” in both 2019 and 2020. While members scurried off to separate colleges in New York City and Philadelphia to study music, Sonic Blume signed with New Jersey-based Shore Point Records, ensuring that the band would remain fully intact.

The new music video was released earlier this week on YouTube alongside an acoustic version of ‘Rocky & I’ available on Spotify and Apple Music. The music video and track speak to me in such a way that I haven’t experienced in recent Alternative Rock releases, detailing teenage love and naivety through its compelling guitar riffs and Connery’s distinctive voice.
