Held together by coffee, cigarettes and dreams of creation, our vagabond team of creatives is a collection of crazy, collected and charismatic. Our aim is to tell the stories brimming through our creative collective culture. From music, art, lifestyle, there is so much to explore.

5 foot 5 but far from average. Aziza is a passionate spoken word poet, connoisseur of tea, and a true lover of life's simple pleasures. You’ll often find her nestled under a tree or in a quiet corner either reading or writing. She’s fully dedicated to finding art and creativity in every single thing. May or may not be easily bribed with hair dye, sunflowers or vegan nuggies. Apart from poetry, Aziza also dabbles in content and copywriting with a background in SEO and marketing, but creative writing is the thread that holds life together for her. When she isn’t creating content or poetry, you can find her advocating for gender equality and fighting GBV.
A writer of creative thought and appreciator of a finely tuned bass line. In love with everything beautiful he is often found looking up at the clouds or out over a distant landscape.
When Saien isn’t writing he’s probably playing cricket, binge-watching TV shows, listening to music or feeling existential dread about the late-stage capitalist dystopia we live in. With a passion for music but no musical talent, his tastes span from Hip-Hop and R&B to Indie Rock and even Hyperpop.
Half-blind and fueled by a combination of caffeine, rock n roll, and anxiety - Kerryn is someone who finds beauty in the smallest things and believes the tiniest stories can be the most magical. If you can’t find her, that's because she’s probably busy watching a great documentary.
Our little intern who is of course a huge legend. The youngest of us, but with the most can-do attitude. Quick with a joke and great at what he does. Capable of sick kick flips.
When she’s not in England working on her Master's at the University of Cambridge, Nadia spends her free time engaged in creativity in all its forms. Whether it’s reading, writing, painting, playing the drums or crafting, she likes to keep her hands busy. She takes great pride in matching her eyebrows to the colour of her outfit, loves her cat, sprinkles glitter on anything she can and will probably pay you if she’s caught not listening to music. (She also prefers “they” when you’re referring to her if you’re an acquaintance or stranger!)

Hailing from from the warm oceanic tides of Durban, Tyla Burnett claims an eclectic mix of professions including Poet//musician//event organiser//DJ. His hand now turned to the written word; it enraptures his keen interest entirely. No subject proves too elusive, provocative or down right strange for his intrepid eyes and ears.
Hi, I’m Michael, a Cape Town based artist with a passion for art in general, whether it’s through creation or consumption. I really love to prioritize experimentation in my own process and seeing how far I can take ideas. The rest of my time is spent trying to provide creative spaces for any individual person to build their relationship with art. Collaboration is a huge part of my life, and I just want to continue to work with incredible people and become better at being myself.
“Writer” could summarize it all but to be specific, I am a screenwriter, playwright and poet branching into journalist and author. My heart is in the film and television industry and thus far I’ve worked as a script writer on the show “The Executives” (Season 1 now on Netflix) and director on the short film "The Book Of Cloth”, which is on its festival run. I’m also crazy about fashion and worked on the same film as designer and stylist. As an artist, I love to explore as many realms as my creativity can reach, and so far it has led me to singing, painting, and dancing as well – although, these are more “creative crop-rotation”.
Kimberley is a Joburg based avid illustrator and creative who has a chronic tendency to hoard a variety of random stuff motivated by the thought of “I can make something out of that one day probably’’. A lover of toasted cheese and weird conversations, Kim believes creativity is for everyone and is a big fan of dogs, roller-skating, podcasts, lo-fi, restaurant food and fantasy.
Meet Amy Gajjar, also known as @adoredbyamy, an award-winning designer, photographer, and writer with a passion for fashion, food, and travel. Whether capturing everyday moments with her iPhone 12 or delving into serious shoots with her Nikon D3400, Amy's work has been featured in The Dieline, the World Photography Organization, and other international and local publications. With a love for storytelling through visuals and words, Amy continues to inspire audiences worldwide with her creative endeavors.
I’m Sarah, a laid-back, easygoing soul who's all about soaking in the good vibes. Whether it's enjoying the simple pleasures of life, adding colour to the mundane, or just being in the moment in this crazy thing called life.
Lia Pikus is an illustrator, cellist and multidisciplinary artist currently based out of Brooklyn, New York. She sees art as a way to bring wonder to the mundane, and uses her practice to connect people to one another and to the natural world. She has held multiple artist residencies as both an illustrator and musician, and seeks to intertwine the two in her own practice moving forwards.

Natalie is a writer and theatre maker from Cape Town. In accordance with Capetonian law, she will swim in the freezing cold sea at any given opportunity while trying to convince everyone that “it’s actually really nice once you’re in”. The rest of her time is spent running, trying to get into woodwork and trying to make puppets that don’t look scary. Natalie also runs Soapboxing, a performance event that encourages artists to share new work or just perform for the sake of performing.
Ashley Allard is currently completing her Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Cape Town. She is also the co-editor and -founder of Low Altitude. Ask her about Fleabag or overnight oats, and she will talk for hours (she talks for hours about most things).
Zubayr Charles isn’t your average 9-to-5 English teacher. By placing his UCT Masters in Creative Writing degree to good use, he has written and directed: Mercy; The Battered Housewives' Club; Please, don’t call me moffie; and this bra's a psycho. Beyond the page and stage, Zubayr can be found chillin' at Saunders Rocks, writing poetry, redditing true crime series, or jamming hard to his Indie Rock, SA House, or Yaat music playlists.

Jerzy Kosinski once said “the principles of art are not to portray but to evoke” and in a world of 7.674 billion people, Facebook, Instagram, Google, and Youtube, the importance of evoking community, creativity, and consciousness has NEVER been more important than it is now.
Born in Spring, 2020, The Cape Creative Collective was made with the intent to provide a platform for creators; to bring power back to the creatives, and encourage a community that evokes change and appreciation for art, for ourselves, and for the world.
As creatives, we acknowledged that we all need a platform to shine a spotlight on our work and to provide a community to premiere and feature the art that drips from the very pores of our society – that by coming together we form something so much bigger than just ourselves. Together we are stronger.
Together we can create the space we want to see in the world, creating intimate events with a collective of artists and creators in a curated showcase of up-and-coming talent as well as shining a light on the people behind the art. Together we discover the incredible names and faces behind the fabric of South African creatives and creativity. Together we explore the art that exists in multitudes throughout this beautiful planet. Together we change the status quo.
Fundamentally art is the mirror that we hold up to ourselves and one another, reflections of our experiences and our lives, our struggles and victories – reflections that come to define us. Stories that shape us; pieces that drive us; music that speaks to us, for us; paint that adds colour to the void. It is in our very nature to question the limits of our existence and as we do so, we change the world – as the very act of questioning reshapes the parameters of how we once saw it.
Live viscerally, create eternally. Together, we are each a drop in the ocean, together we are a multitude. Together, we are the ocean.
