INK BOX ART is by far one of the coolest ART spaces in False Bay. Come see for yourself. Look out for the purple pillar on Main Road in Kalk Bay, saunter up Memory Lane and find an artistic haven where imagination knows no bounds and come witness the power of ART.
The Artvark Gallery is classic, contemporary, and strongly eclectic, with an affinity for folk art, while specializing in paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, and craft, as well as its unique custom-made steelworks. Having been in operation for over 23 years, Artvark has been a long-time favourite of Cape Town's art lovers and tourists visiting Kalk Bay.
The gallery also holds one of the largest collections of contemporary San art from South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
Situated above the famous Olympia Bakery with arguably the best view of Kalk Bay Harbour and False Bay, Kalk Bay Modern offers a unique selection of fine art prints, oil paintings, photography, ceramics and its own range of Art-I-San textiles (previously known as Ekoka textiles).
Within the confines of the cafe's warm embrace, the newly minted Bob's Gallery presents an exquisite array of watercolor paintings that capture the very essence of the surrounding landscape. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the lingering scent of creativity. So this First Thursday Down South be sure grab a coffee and bagel and view some beautiful art at Bob’s!

THE STORY
Awakening Culture and Art, Down South.
First Thursday has become such a prevalent night in Cape Town since its conception almost a decade ago. But what about the South? Where the water is warm and the views are sublime, the galleries and bars look out into the False Bay to see dolphins playing in the waves. We have so many amazing spaces right here on our doorstep, so why not bring the people to us?
Coordinated by The Cape Creative Collective, the focus is to activate what spaces we have here in both Muizenberg and Kalk Bay, from The BlueBird Market, all the way to Brass Bell, and everything in between. Join us every month for something exciting!
