You know those bands that make a dance floor just thump? The type that send the boogie from the souls of your feet to the tips of your fingers – a kind of electricity that demands to be released.
@nomadicorchestra is one of the best of those types of bands. A legendary 5 piece group in SA – the Nomadic Orchestra have been bringing those Soul-Balkan-esque sounds into the SA music scene for the past 12 years.
From late nights rocking on the water at Brass Bell in Kalk Bay, or getting the crowd heaving at Kitcheners in Braamfontein, I’ve had the exceptional pleasure to see these groovy cats at a number of unexpected venues and festivals across the years. Each and every time they easily became the standout part of those events and stole the night away with music that makes you want to run away and join the circus.
As the name – Nomadic Orchestra – strongly suggests, they are influenced by traditional music of South-Eastern Europe as well as contemporary Western party music. The Nomads spice it all off with a dash of gypsy freedom and circus glamour, all tied together with strong jazz musical training – which gives those improvisations even more flair.
We are beyond thrilled to have them headlining our Way Out There event at the end of the month! They are the perfect fit to our collection of wild and adventurous artists and creators who’ll be making a rumpus with us.
