Keeping our ego in check and in view will ultimately
allow us to see our truths with a little more clarity.
There are a brave few who chase mountains, waves so big they roar with thunder. We asked Fabian Campagnolo (@fabian_campagnolo) a 22-year-old big wave surfer from Cape Town, what he has set for himself; his goal for the year and what he thinks the biggest obstacle to chasing dreams bigger than the waves he rides are.
“I’m currently in California waiting for Mavericks to deliver a few more XXL swells before the season sizzles down. This last year was weird… besides the deadly virus that ravaged our daily lives, it seemed like this year, more than any other, our energy levels were more fragile than ever, adjusting the way we approached our time allocations & learning how to maintain our spiritual & physical energy levels which have set the most important foundation for how we should live our lives from here on out.”
“The goal for this year is to maintain a solid, clear headspace, it’s so easy to lose touch with why we want something for ourselves. Unfortunately, us wanting to achieve good things for “ourselves” can – without us even realizing it – become an unconscious battle between our egos and our truths, keeping our ego in check and in view will ultimately allow us to see our truths with a little more clarity. Feed the ego with a baby spoon because at the end of the day it’s going to help drive and fuel your enthusiasm for life and all its obstacles.”
Wishing this legend many more super-sized waves.
