All of a sudden there’ll be a spark
and then I can’t think of anything else.
Her name means love and she’s been saving for roller skates. We’re introducing you to the awesome, the funky, Carys Bailey (@caryslovesyellow).
What inspires you and your work?
“Anything and everything but mostly going outside. Ocean, mountains, plants – there are so many amazing things to see!”
I love creating in all its forms but my favourite would have to be printmaking, particularly linocuts. I kind of have to wait for ideas to come to me. If I try to force it nothing happens, and sometimes there will be periods of time when there’s nothing. But all of a sudden there’ll be a spark and then I can’t think of anything else until I’ve worked it into something”
If you have attended any exhibitions which has been the greatest impression upon you as a creative and why?
“That’s a tough one! I’ve been lucky to have visited a couple of exhibitions, some local and some in different parts of the world. If I had to choose one it would be Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City. Mexico is so rich in culture, flavour, history and nature and it all culminates into incredible, real, somehow both dark and whimsical, breathtaking art. It’s just amazing to see. Here you can also see some of the works of Frieda Kahlo. 10/10 recommend to a friend.”
